Program Description

  Information Technology

Information Technology's (IT) foundation is a passion for excellence. IT facilitates year-round secure and efficient performance of all data and equipment, to ensure that all votes are counted accurately. Responsibility lies with IT for network infrastructure; production of data reports; and maintenance of systems required for election operations and support; including the Department's website and database applications mandated for use by the State Board of Elections. IT coordinates with the Department of Technology Services and the State Board of Elections to organize and integrate voter registration information with election-related processes such as: voter notification and voter services; poll workers and polling place modifications to precincts; and district boundaries consistent with the Census.

IT conducts all testing of digital scanning equipment and ballot marking devices to ensure the accuracy of the hardware and software formulated for each election; and manages storage, maintenance, and distribution of voting equipment. IT coordinates with Election Operations all transportation and logistics of thousands of components for use by voters at the voting locations.
