Based on the KFI assessment data, various building systems upgrades/replacements and programmatic requirements are needed for this school. Therefore, the requested FY 2021-2026 CIP includes funding for a Major Capital Project at this school. This project will address aging infrastructure and meet programmatic objectives. Due to fiscal constraints, the County Council, in the adopted FY2023-2028 CIP, delayed this project by two years. As part of the adopted FY2023-2028 CIP, an additional $22.926 million from the County Executive's Built To Learn Act PDF was included in this project. Due to fiscal constraints, as part of the County Council's approved FY2025-2030 CIP, planning and construction expenditures were shifted to the outyears of the CIP with a "to be determined" completion date. An appropriation for planning funds will be considered in a future CIP.

MCPS asserts that this project conforms to the requirement of relevant local plans, as required by the Maryland Economic Growth, Resource Protection and Planning Act.
