Sligo Creek Elementary School (ES) and Silver Spring International Middle School (SSIMS) share a single campus and building, the former Montgomery Blair High School. As part of the FY 2027 Capital Budget and FY 2027-2032 Capital Improvements Program (CIP), MCPS had proposed the closure of SSIMS in July 2030 and the conversion of both SSIMS and Sligo Creek ES into holding schools. Under that proposal, Sligo Creek ES would have been relocated with a replacement project on a separate site, with planning anticipated to begin in FY 2027 and completion targeted for August 2029. Since the proposed closure of SSIMS is not advancing at this time, no CIP project for Sligo Creek ES is currently approved.
