Projections indicated enrollment would exceed capacity for some of the elementary schools in the Bethesda-Chevy Chase and Walter Johnson clusters. Planning expenditures for a new elementary school were programmed in the out-years of the approved FY CIP. An FY appropriation was requested to begin the planning for this new elementary school. Due to an overall decline in the elementary school enrollment in these two clusters, the expenditures were shifted to the outyears of the CIP. Once the planning funds are appropriated and the scope and cost of this project is determined, construction funding and a completion date will be considered.
