The Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) and the Prince George’s County Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department both have technical rescue teams with the responsibility to respond to structural collapse incidents. The National Capital Region Technical Rescue Committee has collaborated to advise each of the NCR jurisdictions with a Technical Rescue Capability to be able to always support the provision of 13 trained personnel on duty. Because of this desired capability both MCFRS and PGFD have identified the need for multiple structural collapse specialist courses to gain the needed number of personnel to support their response capability.
