The Montgomery County Council is interested in retaining the services of a qualified independent consultant to provide support to a Councilmember office. The role will assist the Councilmember and office staff by providing legislative advice. The work will include analyzing policy, creating reports, drafting legislation, and facilitating meetings with current and new stakeholders critical to the policy development process. This position requires the ability to attend meetings or perform work at locations outside the office.
• Serve as primary legislative advisor for issues related to the Transportation and Environment committee, including but not limited to bill tracking, drafting legislation, and making other policy recommendations to the Chief of Staff and Councilmember.• Provide strategic input and identify opportunities for the Councilmember to lead on policy throughout the year to meet the Councilmember's objectives.• Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with relevant agencies and departments related to transportation and environmental issues.• Participate in strategic planning and prepare the Councilmember and staff for relevant Council events.
