The County will adopt the 2021 editions of the I-series codes, and the code books are needed so DPS can enforce building codes and standards that control what goes on before, during and after construction. Our goal is to provide the highest quality of public service while insuring compliance with Montgomery County development and construction standards. The building codes are updated and published every three years making necessary the purchase of codes, standards and training aids pursuant to the administration and enforcement of the adopted codes and standards. DPS must maintain the current code books and standards as well as any new releases/updates to keep DPS and its employees up-to-date and in compliance with COMAR Regulations. The code books are mandatory and allow the Department to provide continued inspections and plan review service to customers to be in compliance with the state and local mandates.
