All MPDU sales certificates that were originally scheduled to expire between February 1, 2020 and December 31, 2020 have been extended by one year from their original expiration date, without requiring submission of an MPDU renewal application. These certificate holders will still receive a priority point for this year, even though the requirement to recertify has been postponed by a year. Certificate holders will be able to begin renewal of their certificates 60 days prior to their new expiration date.

In order to limit potential virus exposure and improve security, the MPDU office is developing a confidential online system for submitting new and renewal certificate applications. Please check the MPDU website when your certificate renewal acceptance date is approaching for further instructions.

If you are not able to renew your certificate by your new expiration date, or if your certificate expired before February 1, 2020, you will need to re-start the MPDU application process.

MPDU Application Renewal Signup

Note: MPDU Applications are NOT given out at the Renewal Application Session. Current approved certificate holders are required to print the MPDU application using their login credentials.

If your MPDU certificate is expired, you will be required to start the certification eligibility process; this includes attendance to the MPDU Orientation class and the Application Session. You are not required to attend the First-Time Home-Buyer (FTHB) class. However, you will need to provide with a copy of the First-Time Home-Buyer certification. To obtain a copy of your FTHB certificate, contact Housing and Community Initiatives, Inc. at 301-590-2765.

At the MPDU Renewal Application Session, your completed MPDU application and all supporting documents will be reviewed. If your application is incomplete or missing documentation, your application will be returned to you, along with a list of the incomplete information and documentation. You may be asked to re-submit your complete application at a future application session. Or requested to mail the required information and documents to the MPDU Office at the following address:

Renewal Applicants must not sign up for the MPDU Renewal Application Session until they have all required documents.

  1. A New Mortgage Pre-Qualification Letter from an approved HOC lender. (click here for HOC lenders)
  2. Tax Returns: COPY of the most recent Federal income tax return(s) with all schedules and W-2 or 1099-M form.
  3. Paystubs: Copies of the two (2) most recent pay stubs. If self-employed a notarized Year-To- Date summary of income and expenses.
  4. Proof of residence: If your current taxes do not show your current address (copy of lease or utility bill).
  5. Other documents for specials situations (download list)
All MPDU Application Sessions will be held at 1401 Rockville Pike, 4th Floor, Rockville, MD 20852. Parking for the application session is available in the building garage; G1 and G2 levels. Parking is free after the ticket is validated after the end of the session.

Click the appropriate link (Renewal Application) next to the session you wish to attend to sign up for that MPDU Renewal Application Session. Space is limited, and the remaining available appointments are shown for each session. If a session is full, you must select a different session. After registering, you will receive a confirmation web page and email with your registration number. Please print the confirmation page and email and keep them for your records. You can use the registration number to cancel your registration online if you are unable to attend.

If you are having difficulty signing up, you may visit the MPDU office between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. for assistance. Hearing-impaired individuals who are in need of sign language interpretation must call (240) 777-0311 at least two weeks prior to the seminar they wish to attend.
